We’ve repeatedly recommended Google Webmaster Tools to help you assess problems with your website. It can help you figure out if you’re having some problems somewhere and then you can get to the bottom of them. In a specific example, a Cre8asite Forums member is finding that Google is crawling absolute paths, such as http://domain.com/var/www/html/page.php and /home/public_html/admin.html, which shouldn’t ever happen. Is it a problem with Google, or is there a structural issue with the

- Is there a Minimum Number of Pages Required for Decent Organic Rankings?

While SEO becomes more and more important, people try to find angles that they can exploit or take advantage of so that they can achieve good rankings. In one specific instance, High Rankings forum post asks if there’s a minimum number of pages that need to be targeted to achieve decent rankings. It’s important to note that in general, a site as a whole is collectively not ranked. Each page ranks individually. Therefore, you need

- Search Engine Optimizers Should Back Up Their Statements!

At SEO Refugee, Skitzzo talks about how the SEO blogosphere is starting to shift drastically and people are giving their opinions as fact. Instead of using jargon like “in my experience” or “as far as I can tell,” they think that their specific experiences mean that these statements hold true in all circumstances when in fact most of these experiences are circumstantial and they may not entirely hold true in all instances. The discussion moves

- Plurk Brings Micro Forums, Like Twitter Brought Micro Blogging

A few weeks ago, I joined Plurk to mess around with the newest social media buzz. After playing around with it for a few weeks, I have really grown to enjoy many of its addictive features. The main thing I want to explain is that Plurk feels to me like a micro-forums format. Just like Twitter is a micro-blogging system, Plurk is really a micro-discussion forums platform. Plurk works where you can post a 140

- Use Google Ad Manager To Set Minimum AdSense eCPM

Stuart McDonald posted a thread at WebmasterWorld explaining how you can use Google Ad Manager with Google AdSense to specify a minimum eCPM. Google Ad Manager allows you to set a minimum CPM for most ad runs. By specifying the minimum CPM with house or

- Some Webmasters Are Banning Yahoo Slurp

It seems like some webmasters are becoming fed up with the activity of Yahoo’s crawl, Yahoo Slurp, relative to the amount of traffic Yahoo Search is sending the web site. In fact, some webmasters have taken the plunge and banned Yahoo from crawling their sites. It is funny, because some webmasters were or are afraid to ban Yahoo because they think it might have some sort of impact on their Google results. One such webmaster

- Moving to a U.S Hosted Server: Will it Impact Country Specific SEO?

A WebmasterWorld thread asks how much of an impact will a site see if it is moved from a Dubai host to a USA based host? The answer is not really all that known. This webmaster’s main concern is that he receives “80% of traffic from UAE and have lots of content and back links related to UAE.” He wants to continue to receive higher rankings in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) regions. He is

- Why Did Google Tells Us They May Use Cookies To Prevent Spam?

Google Thinks YOU Are a Black Hat SEO. Should You Trust Them? : SEO Book.com

There is a great thread over on SEOmoz by Matthew Inman about how some Googlers consider any of his future attempted linkbaits and widgetbaits to be off topic spam, based on his aggressive misuse of widgets in the past.

Thanks for the article Aaron, it’s gooood.

Optimize Your Blog to Improve Search Engine Rankings

Though a major portion of your web traffic comes from other web sites, but search engines too can boost your site traffic, if your web content is of standard quality. Your web page ranking in any search engine depends upon the style and management of content. Hence, to improve your web page ranking, it is must to optimize your web page content. Following are some tips, which will help you to optimize your web content.

Your web content should be relevant to the keywords used in the title or in links. The content of your blog should be able to attract readers as well as search engines. Keywords should be used at the standard keywords density that is 2% of total words volume. Most of the search engines remain in regular search of relevant and fresh material according to the index. So, if your web content is relevant and updated then more search engine crawlers will click your blog and your web ranking will go up.

Your blog post titles should be unique and compelling. Compelling blog post titles attract the readers at first instance when they see title index on the search engine results. Many search engines determine the rank of your blog according to the post title. So, be careful about the post title. You can make post titles more attractive by using relevant and popular phrases. Effective use of keywords in the titles makes the web content more productive.

You should use only search engine friendly URLs. Now a days, there are many blogging softwares and content management systems that provide search engine friendly URLs. For this specific job, you should avoid using conventional publishing software because theses softwares don’t generate search engine friendly URLs. It is better to use important keywords or titles in URLs. Always provide some links to your other posts in new posts. By adapting this practice you enhance the importance of your older posts as well as your professional value. Use the main keywords in hyperlinks provided in your web content.

Structure of the content is also important. You should divide your content under headings and subheadings. Use headings and subheadings after every one or two paragraphs to highlight your views. This specific feature helps the readers as well as search engines to determine the quality of your content. Try to put main keywords in headings and subheadings but don’t enforce them.

Links: A Powerful Tool for SEO

Search engines are said to operate on Democratic principles. A link to a site from another is said to equal a vote. The more links or votes a site has for it, the more popular it is perceived to be, and thus it should stand higher in the search results and ranking pages. But all votes are not considered equal in this system. A domain itself will be ranked by the search engine algorithms from 1 to 10, with higher values being preferable. Thus a vote or link from a PR 10 web site would be ten times more valuable than a vote or link from a PR 1 web site. Some web sites may have no PR value at all. Usually it takes a few months for a web site’s PR value to be calculated, and it may take a few months of SEO link building before the PR value begins to rise. There are various software programs and third party browser plug-ins that will allow you to check the PR value of a site automatically.

Links, particularly one-way links, are the time honored, most important aspect of SEO campaigns. A SEO campaign can add a hundred or a thousand links per week to a web site. But since the value of spam links is marginal, the need is to focus on building quality links. For this many web site owners will look for one way links from sites with high PR values. The search engines will elevate your own site’s PR value if it has many of these links. If your site does not generate blogging activity, forums, or press interest generally, then you will need to blog your own site and create links through an SEO campaign. To do this you can create simple announcements of services offered and place them on various bulletin boards. If you post a lot in forums on different sites, make sure your signature includes a link to your home page. This kind of basic activity is excellent to create links.

To create a back link in a post, you may be able to use a WYSIWYG editor to insert the link automatically, or use an html editor to insert a link tag. The basic html code for a link should be:

<a href=”http://www.example.com/”>link</a>

With this tag you can create anchored links in any web page, blog, forum or bulletin board post. Html link tags will also work in most emails.

Advertise Your Website Successfully On Internet

The best way to advertise your web site on the web is to offer banner advertising to other sites to display with a link to your domain. If you also offer a commission on sales, many web masters whose content relates to your product will be happy to keep your banners on their web sites. These kinds of advertising programs may function through a site like Commission Junction, or through free banner exchange web sites. Free banner exchanges are excellent if you are not selling products and cannot give a commission, but would like to build traffic through advertising on like-minded sites. Free banner exchanges may also be combined with commission based ad exchanges, or affiliate programs for a web promotion with different channels.

A simple way to advertise your site is to blog about it. You can easily add links and reviews, descriptions of new products, changes, happenings, and keep a ready log of information online through blogging. Forum announcements and discussions are another good place to advertise your site. Don’t forget to link to your site in your signature, as this will create hundreds or thousands of links to your site over time from forum posts alone. Press releases sent out through email or article submission services are a good way to advertise your site. Others may also wish to combine print, newspaper, and radio ads to promote their sites and web pages. Successful advertising on the internet can also be based on a Pay Per Click ad campaign, and keyword advertising on search engine results pages and content sensitive ads.

Free classifieds sites are becoming more and more popular, and can also be used to promote and advertise your site. Paid advertising is also offered directly by some sites; you can contact a target web site directly and inquire about posting banners on their site at a monthly or annual rate. Keeping a franchise web site that offers all the same services and products, or simply a business card type of web site that is an alternative doorway to your main domain, is recommended at social networking sites like mySpace, Facebook, and eBay. The combination of banner ads, affiliate programs, link exchanges, free banner exchanges, forum posts, blogging, comment posts, signatures, press releases, PPC, social networking sites, paid advertising, and mass media promotions can be a successful way to advertise a web site for SEO, traffic, and sales.

Website Promotion through SEO

The SEO campaign is used as a means to promote a web site online that it attracts a wider community and more traffic, as well as ranking higher on the search engine results pages. Search Engine Optimization works best as a continual process, a regular promotion of the site through links, comments, posting to forums or bulletin boards, blogging and other link building work. Since one post a day is not difficult to mange on average, consider building 10 or 100 links per day for an intensive SEO campaign. Regular updates of new content through posts are going to also lead to better results than the repeating of the same article again and again. Duplicate content is a question as far as effectiveness goes in SEO. Many people claim duplicate content makes little difference for SEO, it is all counted as positive. Yet, some reports suggest that web sites with duplicate content will be downgraded in comparison with those hosting original articles only. Overall, it may be that the number of links is balanced with quality by the search engine algorithms to give an accurate picture in page ranking results. Duplicate content in SEO may also be seen when an article containing links is sent to thousands of pages simultaneously, or link exchanges share the same links across thousands of web sites.

Best ways to increase SEO traffic to a web site through web promotions:

  • Blogs
  • Forum Posts
  • Comments
  • Back Links
  • Direct Submission to Directories
  • Free Classifieds Ads
  • Social Networking Sites
  • Link Exchanges
  • Banner Exchanges
  • PPC Advertising
  • Print & Radio Ads

Analytics, or reviewing your sites traffic statistics, may be recommended together with an SEO or web promotion campaign. You can monitor your web site’s PR or page rank through third party software. If you keep notes as to your web site’s daily position in the search engine related to certain keywords, and chart those keywords and relationships over time, you can have a better idea of the success of various SEO and PPC campaigns. Web site promotion through SEO is a basic part of the over-all development of a web site, and should be cultivated on a regular basis for a site. This may be done by the web master, owner, volunteers, or paid professionals. Web site promotion through SEO can actually become a basic part of the way you browse and surf the net.

V7N – New Link Buying Opportunity for SEOs and Site Owners

Last week V7N announced the launch of new contextual link buying service. Being a symbiosis of Text Links Buying system and Pay-per-Post blogging system the new service both gives the possibility to acquire additional text links for site owners and to earn extra money for bloggers.

Contextual Links

The site receives link when the text copy provided by advertiser (link buyer) is placed as a line of text at the end of a particular blog post. The product or service advertised is not specifically reviewed or endorsed in a blog post but relates to the industry described in a post. Embedded in a sentence contextual link can hardly be detected by search engine algorithms of filtering.

V7N doesn’t specify whether the advertiser is able to target specific blogs or posts but ensures that “only high quality web sites are accepted into the V7 Contextual Links program”.
