According to Google’s plans, you will be soon able to search the TV for your favorite program. Hard to imagine? Maybe or us but not for Larry Page and Sergey Brin – Google founders.
With its new TV search engine Google is heading to give the viewer access to much more data then he currently have. To enable viewers choose from a wide range of films and video Google with broadcasters is trying to create an electronic program guide.
It is also in Google’s plans to let customers browse the internet via digital television for whatever video content they want. So I believe very soon we will be able to watch any program or film we want via the Internet.
Besides, I am sure that on introducing TV search engine the new advertising format for this service will arise. It is not yet developed but taking into consideration with what speed Google produces its new products we must expect the ad system appearance simultaneously with search engine itself.
Frequently I heard the opinion that each page should be optimized for 1 or 2 keywords and that there is no sense in trying to put more keywords on the page. I won’t disagree that commonly there is a limited number of popular terms for each industry. I also agree that the page should be optimized for some of these terms, but at the same time we shouldn’t neglect completely rarely-searched-for keywords.
Spend your time some day and examine the log file(s) of your site. What do you see there? Right, there are some keywords your site was most frequently found, and a long list of term or phrases that were searched for once or twice and lead to your site. This is the very case when quantity turns into quality and the long list of rarely entered keywords generate a good deal of overall traffic.
This effect is called “long tail”. It could be achieved by placing as many related keywords to the page as possible (without making it senseless and hardly readable, of course). You can compile these term lists using some keyword tools, but we recommend using the real data in the log files of your own site.
So next time you’re compiling a keyword targeting list, please don’t neglect “long tail” traffic - because it makes your site more easily found (the competition for rare terms is much lower then for the popular) and typically leads to higher conversion rates.
Try the “long tail” theory. It is working!
For the past two years (give or take), there has been talk about Google’s impending entry into the online payments market. We’ve heard names like Google Purchases, Google Wallet, and Google Payments tossed around, as everyone waits for Google’s “PayPal Killer” (their words, not ours) to be unleashed.
Memorial Day Weekend 2006, the latest Google payments rumor has arrived. Garett Rogers at ZDNet has done some digging and discovered that googlecheckout.com and googlemastercard.com have been registered by Google.
Back in September, Rogers was the guy who uncovered that Google had registered the domain name Gdrive.com through another company, and it took quite a bit of sleuthing to figure the whole scheme out (a.k.a.: MarkMonitor and DNStination, Inc).
The chatter on the Web seems to be focusing heavily on the googlecheckout.com registration — but we’re curious to see what’s in the works with Google and MasterCard. It could be something very similar to the PayPal + MasterCard tie-up; but Google’s also got a history of seeking unique partnerships with large companies.
Could the Googlers be working on something bigger with MasterCard, something that could allow them to make serious penetration into the payments market — both online and off? Plenty will scoff at the size/scale of such endeavors — but Google’s got no shortage of cash to burn pushing into new markets, in a big, big way.
At the same time, MasterCard’s got a HUGE upcoming IPO that would certainly seem to benefit from any high-profile union with stock market darling GOOG. And from Google’s perspective, the only way to milk their current analyst/investor darling status more than they already are is with another IPO; by forging a major partnership with MasterCard (and getting preferred investor status on the IPO), Google could rake in millions.
Keep your eye on this story as it develops.

This week Microsoft was granted some new patents which will bring new possibilities to their search and advertising products. So what major points do the patents focus on?
![]()
The first patent aims to improve text search by utilizing information redundancy. While the second patent Microsoft presents annotation management system that is able to handle millions of requests a day. And the third patent relates not to search but to advertising. Microsoft claims to display advertising based on the television programming viewed by the particular user so that the ads become more relevant.
The 3 patents were granted to Microsoft on May 23 - see below:
Utilizing information redundancy to improve text searches
Scalable computing system for managing annotations
System and method of inserting advertisements into an information retrieval system display
Google has pre-announced the launch of a new feature to AdWords. Ad scheduling functionality, is the name of it, and it looks much like the similar feature of MNS Ad Center.
Soon Google advertisers will be given even greater campaign management control, being able able to target their ads to a specific day or time. Ad scheduling allows advertisers to run their ads and control bids based on the day or time. This feature enables advertisers to schedule ads to run only on business days or only on week-ends. “Day-parting” will let to run ads during specific hours of the day.
The scheduling feature is announced to be launched within a few weeks so very soon we will be provided with complete control over our ads in Google.
If in some moment you notice that your highly ranked site loses its positions with the speed of the light or it doesn’t appear in SERPs at all. even though all the pages were indexed, I regret to tell you that but your site has been banned by the search engines.
No need to say that being removed from the index of such search giants as Google or Yahoo! your site eill begin to loose TONS of traffic - but don’t panic, we can help.
Complete the following steps in order to return your site back to the search engine index.
First, need to find out the reason of the disappearance. Majority of the possible reasons are listed below. Check all the points carefully taking into consideration that even if YOU didn’t break the rule it could have been your webmaster or search optimization company that did it.
Reasons why your site could have been banned by search engine:
- File robots.txt has been changed or NOINDEX meta tags have been included so that the spiders can not reach your site any more.
- Your server is not stable or down too much.
- Your site has been copied (or Mirrored) by someone and has been banned for duplicate content (affiliate sites that absolutely copy content of the major site will also harm)
- Your site contains hidden text (text written the same color as the page’s background so that user can’t see it)
- Your pages employ cloacking techniques (the users are displayed one content and spiders – another)
- The site implements doorway pages, hidden links
- A sneaky redirect from the optimized for search engine page is used
- The page contains a great quantity of high traffic but absolutely irrelevant for your site keywords
- Your site is linked by spammers of “bad neighborhood” – sites like free-for-all directories, gambling sites, adult sites
Results of the second step to get back to the index of search engine will probably depend on your luck. After you have removed all the possible reasons from the list above and feel that your site meets webmaster guidelines you could send the search engine a very polite email in which:
- Describe your situation – what you (or your webmaster) have done
- Tell that you have read the guidelines and corrected all the mistakes on your site
- Claim that you will never do something like you have done on your site when it was banned
- Include full contact information
Of course there is no guarantees that this message will be replied, but to my mind it is the only chance to put your site back to the search engine’s index so you take the opportunity and proof your writing!
I hope this information will help in case of any indexation mishap, but in general I wish you NEVER to banned by any search engine!
