Do you tend to click on sponsored links in search results? If you don’t then you will not even see sponsored links in Google SERPs because the company starts to test a user-behavior- based ads rotation. So if according to your search behavior Google tracked you are not the person that is likely to click a sponsored results link the system will remove the top ads from the page placing it on the right side.
Google spokesman Michael Mayzel claimed that the changes are implemented to refine ads delivery and that this method will ensure both that users will find the ads only when they are of the greatest use and advertisers will receive the better ROI and more qualified leads.
Yahoo makes its Local Search more handy and social. Such new features as a possibility to create and share the “collections” of your local favorites, group the list you created by “ best” and “worst” were added to Yahoo Local. Besides now users can easily upload photos to Local as well as save other people photos to their collections.
Along with the features mentioned Yahoo Local gives its user an option whether to leave his collections private or to make social, whether to share them with publicity or not.
It looks like people opinion gets better trust when automated mathematical algorithms and social search get more and more popularity. Yahoo is on the right way to leadership – good for them!
A list of link-building and link popularity increase commandments was published by LinkMoses. Thought it is funny it’s quite fair. Even if you are not too religious the list is worth reading because it is one of the things that bring your mood up and I greatly appreciate it in SEO industry.

Microsoft corp. is about to launch its updated search engine Windows Live. Available previously in test form Microsoft’s new search engine comes out of beta today.
What changes will it have compared to MSN? According to Microsoft’s Live Search corporate vice president Christopher Payne among the enhancements implemented are improved ways to refine a search query and improved image search and image view.
Well, it goes without saying that to win the market share and become a leader of the branch Microsoft will have to implement much more enhancements and get much better users loyalty but the company’s got a good start!
A new tool for Google advertisers was announced by Inside AdWords Blog this Friday. AdWords users have been using a geo targeting function for a rather long period but now Google provides a possibility to preview your ads in the way they are shown in a particular destination other then your physical location. Search results and ads in them are not active so that you could avoid unwanted impressions and occasional clicks happen. There is a number of optional attributes like target country, region, city or longitude/latitude coordinates for advertisers’ convenience.
In other words now it became possible to see how users in different geographies see your ads.
Everything changes rapidly in today’s world. Now it’s the turn of one of my favourite social bookmarking site digg.com to experience certain changes. Ad the site’s founder Kevin Rose declared in the Digg blog they are planning to implement new algorithms for ranking top stories on home page and category pages as well as for ranking top users – diggers and submitters.
The new algorithms are not disclosed to avoid people gaming with the system but what is known now that digg.com will stay a platform to share news and stories that are important to you and will try to defend its users from artificial digs, digg spam and fraud.
And digg.com remains under control of masses – either digg and promote a story if you like it or bury it if you consider it useless – it’s up to you!
